Without fail, Ririmi would begin their day at the great fish statue plaza in Waterfall City, attempting to chart the ever-shifting musical pitch of the falls. Their work required patience and focus. One morning, a group of frog merchants mistook their intense concentration for a sales demonstration. Ririmi, trying to explain sonic frequencies, was quickly surrounded by chimps asking for investment advice. Before they could clarify, a boat-maker, overhearing the word 'pitch,' thrust a bucket of sticky black sealant into their hands as a business offering. In the ensuing panic, Ririmi stumbled, coating themself and three bystanders in the tar. They are still trying to explain what happened, but everyone in the city just calls them 'the Pitchbearer' now.
