Chimper #1688
Tomeko has always been a creature of momentum. As a youth, they raced other messengers up the slick stone stairs that connect the misty fishing docks to the city proper, fueled by little more than bravado and bowls of steaming ramen. Their first deliveries were simple: trade manifests, merchant squabbles, dinner invitations. But one day, they were tasked with carrying a single, unmarked scroll to the pale stone temple that sits half-in, half-out of the roaring river. The recipient, an elderly frog, didn't dismiss them. They shared tea and spoke of how some messages aren't about speed, but about timingโlike a stone dropped into a current. Since that day, Tomeko eats a little slower. They still wear the shades, but now they use them to watch the currents of people, not just to block the spray.
