Isojuurou

Every morning, Isojuurou lights their guiding lanterns, and every morning, they discover one of Nishiho’s new “improvements.” Last week, it was a self-polishing enchantment that also polished the grand palace corridors to an ice-like sheen. The week before, it was an experimental fuel that smelled faintly of burnt sugar and attracted every wasp in the imperial gardens. The tiny scar above Isojuurou’s eye serves as a permanent reminder of the infamous ‘brighter-than-the-sun’ incident. Most masters would have dismissed such a chaotic student, but Isojuurou just sighs, dusts the soot from their haori, and gets to work. They consider Nishiho the perfect rival—one who tests their legendary calm daily. One day, Nishiho will invent something truly brilliant; until then, Isojuurou always carries a spare lantern.
