Sanba is the fastest messenger in The Dragon Wastelands, but their messages never arrive. They race across scorched plateaus, their kabuki-painted face a promise of urgent duty fulfilled. Warlords and lovers alike entrust them with vital secrets, paying fortunes for the guarantee of speed. Sanba accepts every scroll with a solemn bow, every mission with unwavering focus, braving the howling winds and ghost-dragon illusions that plague the valleys. But at the end of each journey, in a hidden alcove among the skeletal remains of giant beasts, Sanba performs the final act. They read the words meant for another, their expression unreadable beneath the paint, before carefully feeding the scroll to a flame. They are not a courier; they are a tomb for words too dangerous to be spoken.
