The noodle vendors along the bamboo-lined streets will tell you Hanei earned their scars fighting off three Soul Chasers at once. The truth is, Hanei got the worst one by walking into a low-hanging paper lantern while distracted by a particularly fluffy cloud. They treat their life with the intense focus of a master strategist, a fact that both amuses and exasperates Tora. Hanei believes the amulet they lost contains a cipher vital to the kingdom's safety. Every week, they provide Tora with solemn updates on their investigation, which mostly involves accusing cherry blossoms of hiding clues. Tora knows the amulet was a cheap festival trinket and is probably in a gutter somewhere, but the weekly meetings are a nice excuse for tea.
