Kannagi

The Heart of the Forest has a saying: 'A hungry eye sees a feast in every root.' For Kannagi, this proved disastrously true. They arrived with special eyewear meant to spot hidden gems, and within an hour, it lit up, revealing a network of faintly glowing tubers beneath the amber leaves. 'Riches!' they thought, digging one up. Before a price could be offered, a cheerful local snatched it, declared it the legendary 'Glimmer-Shroom,' and threw it into a communal stew pot. Kannagi, an optimist, assumed this was just how bartering worked here. The resulting stew was inedible. But the locals, so thrilled by the discovery, praised its 'challenging flavor profile' and crowned Kannagi a culinary visionary. They've never sold a thing, but are the permanent guest of honor at the annual, and deeply unpleasant, Glimmer-Shroom festival.
