Chimper #4333
The Great Panda City values order above all; its bamboo-lined streets are pathways of quiet purpose, and its cherry blossoms fall with silent grace. Among this serene backdrop, Maruna is a contradiction, a shambling figure with cracked war paint and the low, constant growl of the undead. Each morning, without fail, they take their fishing rod to the river that flows through the city, casting a line into the cold, clear water. The Panda Council sent sentinels at first, disturbed by the chill that follows Maruna, a spectral echo reminiscent of the maddened wizard Yurei. But Maruna never speaks, never threatens. The patient act of fishing seems to be the only thing holding their frayed soul together. The locals have grown used to the sight, a grim statue by the water's edge, whose only movements are the slow raising and lowering of a simple fishing rod.
