After the Soul Chasers retreated and the unnatural snowfall ceased, Poteto found Munemi waiting, not with a blade drawn, but with a map. Their war had been a constant in The Underworld, a private conflict waged across sulfurous plains. Poteto, the scholar in a captain's hat, had always countered Munemi's fury with cold strategy, their unassuming apple stick proving surprisingly effective. But this map showed a new enemy, something that made their old hatred seem small. They agreed to an alliance. These days, they share a fire and pore over the faded parchment. Poteto wonders which is more dangerous: the beast on the map, or the former enemy sitting just across the flames.
